The study looks for the optimal position and shape of a patio that would connect a new four-floor housing development in a residential neighbourhood of Mexico City-Colonia Narvarte. The shape is determined by the dimensions of beams and structural grid schemes.
The goal of the project is to find the best performing patio position that will bring enough, but not too much light to the interior of the building. Since optimization was not possible due to rigid structural constraints and earthquake schemes, Brute Force technique was applied to compare solutions.
Sunlight hours simulation for each floor demonstrated daylight conditions for each patio solution.
